NALAG Continues the Series of Regional Conferences in the Framework of the Best Practice Program (BPP)

Prior to announcing the Best Practice Program (BPP) Competition for 2019, the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG) continues the series of regional conferences

 

In the framework of the project “Networking for Efficiency and Development” (N4ED), funded by the EU, NALAG have already conducted the regional conferences in 6 regions of Georgia. The aim of the conferences is to identify best practices in Georgian municipalities and share their experiences with other municipalities.

 

Ms. Natya Ghvinashvili, Deputy Executive Director of NALAG, Ms. Nino Zurabishvili and Mr. Kakha Gurgenidze, Experts of NALAG conducted the regional conferences with the high level representatives from Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti, Samegrelo- Zemo Svaneti, Imereti and Guria. Representatives of NALAG provided the audience with the information about the project.

 

The main part of the meeting was dedicated to the discussion of the Best Practice Program for 2019, topics and the stages of the competition, evaluation criteria and indicators. Participants also talked about the challenges and experience on citizen participation in the regions.

 

During the conference was presented the test version of the web-portal. As it was noted at the meeting, the web-portal is the flexible tool for sharing best practices. Ms. Nino Zurabishvili and Ms. Tea Turashvili, representative of E-Governance for Georgia, explained to the audience the rules of use and the specifics of the web-portal.

 

Regional conferences will be held in all regions of Georgia.

 

The project “Networking for Efficiency and Development” (N4ED) is an initiative funded by the European Union and implemented by the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG). The project consortium includes the PMC – Research Centre (PMC–RC) Georgia and the Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments (LALRG). Objectives of N4ED are: to promote inclusive economic growth and participative planning at locals; to introduce performance evaluation and monitoring system in target municipalities; to facilitate networking and exchange of good practices between Georgian Local Authorities. The action will work in municipalities in all regions of Georgia.
