Ms. Tamar Taliashvili was elected as a Vice-President of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR)

Ms. Tamar Taliashvili, the vice-president of the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG) and the vice-president of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe was elected as a vice-president of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) from the Black Sea Region.
At the first meeting of CEMR’s new Policy Committee on 23 January, mayors, councilors and regional officials came together to elect President, Co-Presidents, Chair of the Financial Management Committee, Executive Presidents and Vice-Presidents. The meeting was held in Orleans, France.
“It is noteworthy that the representatives of the Black Sea Region participated in the Council elections for the first time, so it is a great honor and a double responsibility for me to be elected as the vice-president from the Black Sea Region. We will definitely use this platform, as an opportunity to improve the democratic process in the region.” – stated Ms. Taliashvili.
The National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia has been a member of CEMR since 2010 and has been actively involved in discussing various topics.
The Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) is the oldest and broadest European association of local and regional governments. It is the only organisation that brings together the national associations of local and regional governments from 41 European countries.
CEMR is also the European section of the world organisation United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG).
